Just a little pretty light…

Not too bright, to hurt heart’s eyes…

I, you…love looks much more marvelous, muzzy…

“Did you take this picture, or did the camera slip?”, she asked with forced lightness.

He looked at her disconsolately, said nothing.

“Okay, then—I may as well speak frankly:  our relationship has fallen beyond hope of restoration; and you’re welcome to the photo album…my memories are sadly indelible.”

Not Beaver Cleaver’s House

“Damn drones!” Josh could hear his mom yell from clear across the street.

She was gonna pitch a fit, dinner would be burned and smoked with angry silence—and Grandma would no doubt be banned from Easter festivities.

It would not serve him well to explain that Grandma’s fascination with all things “new technology” was actually a good thing, proving her faculties were still amazingly sharp—and did not mean she’d sworn allegiance to the “enemy’s manifesto”…

The donut diet definitely had to go.

Quality Meats sounded kinda good, but didn’t that mean cooking?

There was next to nothing available, affordable—flights were booked solid everywhere.

A Better Someplace

Always a fence between him and something that passed for normal.

Outside, he looked in at world he thought he wanted, yet suspected would not really satisfy him.

Maybe he’d have to put forth more effort—he didn’t want to end up like his sad recluse sister; there had to be a ‘better someplace’ for people who were merely different.

Unicorns—childish, romantic myth—

He didn’t believe in fairies, Santa, or an Easter Bunny either.

Putting that sign in the window didn’t make it a true fact, he groused to nobody…..as his feet turned him ’round to follow the arrow.
