Black-Sapphire Night (NaPoWriMo 2017-Day 17)

“…our (optional) prompt. Today, I challenge you to write a nocturne. In music, a nocturne is a composition meant to be played at night, usually for piano, and with a tender and melancholy sort of sound. Your nocturne should aim to translate this sensibility into poetic form! Need more inspiration? Why not listen to one of history’s most famous nocturnes, Chopin’s Op. 9 No. 2?”

In static sky

Black-sapphire felt

No stars pinned in place

Wan moon a-pining

I look for lingered silken shadow

Impoverished, I’ve nothing to offer

Night so empty of everything

Vast and limitless

Without wants, needs…

Somewhere music spins

Gossamer threads

Between lovers separated

By death, distance otherwise

Passion more or minus obsession…

Silence on horizon

Souls’ script-less whispers

Longing to hear “Recuerda Me”

No fool, this heart

That I’d not follow…I know

Your ashes lie ‘neath the sea
