Minimal Expectations

Expectations shield

Guard the heart

Dial down wants

Lest disappointments cripple

Soul which counts on MORE

    • You’re good! (“More, please”) I feel like I’m called to be the “reality police” for many goodhearted folks who make grand generous gestures they can’t possibly fulfill due to a list of legitimate limitations….

  1. I sometimes think RL if we think minimum, anything else is a bonus. Then we can leave something for ourselves. Your poem and picture create a poignant message.

    • It’s admirable if we can get to that place, Davy–where “anything is a bonus”; the problem comes when we’ve known famine far too long. At that point, we need a great imagination to view ‘next to nothing’ as a feast. Please pardon my grimness during this season of lack.
